Quiksilver Inc, almost free of the financial burden ski-brand Rossignol had imposed, retuned to a slender Q3 profit with sales in Europe racing ahead to underpin sluggishness in both the Americas and Asia Pacific regions. However, a double-digit increase in expenses skewed continuing ops and the worry over a flagging economy dampened any return-to-profit enthusiasm.

Barneys New York Thursday (September 4) celebrated the launch of Benjamin Bixby, the new men's line designed by musician and actor André Benjamin of Outkast fame, also known as André 3000. The autumn/winter line, which plays on an old-world, American aesthetic inspired by vintage documentary clips of American football players, will be exclusive to Barneys in New York, and elsewhere is being sold at upscale retailers such as Neiman Marcus.
